Image Commentary Occasionally, ancient lagoons evaporate completely away leaving extensive and thick salt deposits buried deep in the subsurface. This "mobile" rock may billow and plume underground until it breaks through to the surface, where, in a second of geological time it will be eroded away to nothing. In this image we see that erosive process in action. |
