On this rare, cold, pre-dawn moment alone with bobbing gondolas on the Grand Canal of Venice, Italy, it is perhaps hard to contemplate the affects - or even the reality - of global warming. But Venice, and the plight of the Venetians, presents us with an interesting fractal of what may lie ahead for many more of us. Whatever the cause, the fact that global temperatures are rising is a matter of record. Should this trend persist, mankind's many coastal cities may find themselves contemplating the experience of the Venetians in a lot more intimate fashion!
